The project 'Open Research Behind Closed Doors' aims to gain insight into the lived experiences of persons with psychosocial and intellectual disabilities who are detained during the COVID-19 pandemic as a result of their criminal behavior and/or as a result of exemption of criminal responsibility due to their disability. Moreover, it aims to identify paths for future research on the challenges posed by pandemics in closed institutions and develop recommendations on how the current situation of persons with psychosocial and intellectual disabilities deprived of liberty can be improved.
